Through the ThinkFirst member hospitals/trauma centers with the health educator in partnership with local law enforcement, parents/guardians/teens learn what they need to know about keeping their teen driver (or soon-to-be driver) safe on the road. Law enforcement explains the GDL laws to ensure parents understand their risks and responsibilities on how to best support their teen drivers. This interactive turnkey program includes a short video, take-home materials for the attendees, simple pre-/post- tests, and Q&A giving the parents the knowledge and tools they need to successfully address GDL laws with their teen driver.

Law Enforcement & Health Educators

The program is delivered by trained Law Enforcement Officers and health educators who are the facilitators and coach parents by providing proven strategies to help parents lower their teens' crash risk and understanding of the GDL law.

Interested in bringing innovative programming to teach parents of new (or soon-to-be) teen drivers?

ThinkFirst for Parents of Teen Drivers is designed to help parents of teen drivers in the pre-permit, permit, or intermediate stage of licensure.

The program uses a video and discussion to promote the importance of parents and teens working together to reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities. The facilitators educate parents by presenting key facts and proven strategies to help parents lower their teen's crash risk by utilizing the GDL law.
